“The Magnificent Drama: Martin Luther King in St. Augustine”
with Dr. Michael Butler

Third on Third Presentation
Florida Humanities Florida Talks Lecture Series
Friday, November 19 at 6pm

The civil rights movement in St. Augustine drew national attention when Martin Luther King, Jr. visited twice in 1964, sparking marches, arrests, and clashes between protesters and police on the tourist-lined beaches of St. Augustine. Local and national objectives complemented and contradicted each other in ways that affect race relations today.

Attendance is free for museum members with a suggested donation of $5 for nonmembers. Masks are mandatory. Seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. This program is wheelchair accessible.

This program is a partnership between the Florida Humanities and the Amelia Island Museum of History. Funding for this program was provided by Florida Humanities and sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture, and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
