Since when did every executive order become “a mandate.” Presidents have been ordering flags to be flown at half staff in honor of deceased Americans for centuries. The headline says a lot about the Nassau Insider. More interested in dinging Joe Biden than celebrating the life of Colin Powell.

General Powell was the kind of leader needed to have a democracy. He served both Republican and Democratic presidents. He was conservative on some issues and more liberal on others, but he respected the opinions of others and worked to make the nation one that served ALL Americans. Most important, he admitted to mistakes and owned up to his role when he was wrong — and he learned from these life lessons. He will be missed and I hope we have young leaders ready to enter the political arena with integrity and selflessness, following in his footsteps.
