Fernandina Beach Police arrest sexual battery suspect – Victim under 12 years old

On August 28, 2021, the Fernandina Beach Police Department responded to the Baptist Medical Center concerning a report of an alleged sexual battery in which the victim was under the age of twelve years old.

It was reported that while at a social gathering at a home in Fernandina Beach the child went into a bathroom after which a male came in and had sexual contact with her.

Based on an investigation conducted by the FBPD with assistance from the Child Protection Team, probable cause was established for the arrest of 25-year-old Fernandina Beach resident Giovaniel Soto-Valentin.

On September 2, 2021,Soto-Valentin was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Nassau County Jail with a bond set at $750,003.00.
