8th annual Barnabas Center Empty Bowls event November 12.

This year’s 8th annual Barnabas Center Empty Bowls event, to be held on Friday, November 12, will raise funds to help individuals and families experiencing hunger. To ensure the safety of guests, volunteers and the community, Barnabas will again host a DRIVE-THROUGH event instead of a luncheon. Barnabas is focused on keeping its Empty Bowls attendees safe during the pandemic by serving guests in their cars. Along the route, guests will enjoy entertainment, a delicious meal of soup from presenting sponsor, The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, and a unique hand-painted bowl to take home.

The Empty Bowls fundraiser is a symbolic reminder of the many “bowls” in our community that still need to be filled for people who struggle with hunger or food insecurity. In the last year, Barnabas served more than 14,000 food insecure individuals with healthy food equaling 697,506 pounds through its food assistance programs.

“We have the challenge of creating a safe and fun outdoor event again this year,” said Liza Cotter, Empty Bowls Event Chair. “With even more pizzazz and entertainment, we guarantee a unique and different lunchtime experience. We are so appreciative of the community’s support in the past and hope that everyone will continue to support people in need in Nassau County.”

Barnabas Center thanks legacy level sponsor, Baptist Medical Center Nassau, the extraordinarily generous titanium level sponsors and all the contributing donors and sponsors. All proceeds help Barnabas achieve its ongoing mission: to improve the stability, health and well-being of individuals and families in need. Empty Bowls will be held in the area of 2440 Lynndale Road, Fernandina Beach (near the municipal airport), from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.barnabasnassau.org/events/empty-bowls.
