Now that the children are back in school, packing bag lunches and planning after school snacks is no longer a chore when you shop at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market. First, you’ll want to pick up a bag of Ethiopian coffee from Bunna Cafe for yourself, then let the kids pick their own fresh baked muffins, Savannah bars, or cinnamon rolls to start their day. Amelia’s Granola Bar offers a variety of granola flavors to put atop yogurt, eat right out of the bag, or add a half a cup of milk for a quick breakfast of overnight oats, and the Butt Head booth has goat milk, yogurt, and cheese. Loaves of breads made with honey, and not sugar, can be found at Great Harvest Bread Company, and Bacon’s Select Produce offers salad mix, kale, and other greens that that brighten up any sandwich. Ferra’s Bakery has cookies, spanakopita, and calzones, all of which are great after-school snacks. Prefer to feed your family gluten-free or vegan? Check out Something Good or Vegan Amelia; they both offer specialized breads, muffins, cakes, cookies, and more. And who can go wrong when selecting a mini or full-sized pie from Me, Myself and Pies? They are back this week with sweet, creamy, and savory pie selections.

Simply Savory dips are seasoning packets that are simply added to whipped or cream cheese for a quick dip, spread, or dessert. If your little ones like seafood, the salmon dip at Upstream Seafood, or the ceviche, blue crab and lobster salads at the King of all Guacamole booth are the best!

Quick and easy dinners can be made with steaks or burgers from JD Beef, shrimp from Chesser’s Seafood or a salmon filet from Upstream. African Love Kitchen offers ready to eat dishes as well as their popular sambusa that are reheated fast in the microwave. The Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market really does offer healthy solutions to feeding your family easily this school year.

No youngsters in your home anymore? That’s great! Adults like healthy foods, too! Also, the Fernandina Beach Arts Market will be open adjacent to the farmers market Saturday with tents full of fine and whimsical jewelry, art, photography, apparel, woodworking, yard art, and so much more! Looking for something for your four-legged friend? The Collar Cottage offers a nice variety of collars with your favorite mascots; what better way to kick-off football season?

Whether you come for the food, the arts, the crafts, the live music by Light the Moon, or to enjoy fellowship with your neighbors, there are plenty of reasons to join us Saturday on North Seventh Street in historic Fernandina Beach for outdoor shopping in the warm Florida sunshine, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM., rain or shine. Your well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to join you.
