Editor’s Note: A friend of mine, much loved and respected in our community, is in the hospital struggling with COVID-19. She is sending out a message encouraging everyone to get vaccinated. I hope our community heeds her warning. Get vaccinated, please and remember all those suffering in your thoughts and prayers.
Let’s support those people who fear employment or financial retaliation (getting fired, losing pay, can’t afford child care or extra hospital bills) if they have side effects from the vaccine. These people often have been burned by our archaic healthcare system and need assistance. For the spreadnecks who are still anti-government, anti-science, conspiratorialists, etc., all we can do is pray that someday they will wake up from their self-centered bubble before one of their loved ones ends up in the hospital with Covid.
Mark, let’s also pray for those that received the shot and died. Also, to those of you that received the shot without knowing what effects it will have on your long term health. For example, will your immune system be reprogrammed to ignore cancers and bacteria or will it put your immune system into overdrive and you end up with an auto-immune disease that kills you? Maybe give others their rightful opportunity to decide for themselves all risks involved. What works for you may not work for someone else. Expand your mind and look at the BIG picture. Yes, certainly the three people who have died as a direct result of the vaccine (J&J – blood clots) deserve our prayers. Think about that for a moment. 4.4 billion doses of the Covid vaccine have been delivered worldwide and there are 3 confirmed deaths directly linked to the vaccines. Prayers should also be offered up to the medical professionals who discovered how to treat those suffering from rare cases of blood clots so that no one else will die from the vaccine. Prayers to those who don’t know or understand that to date in the history of vaccines, there has never been a side effect that wasn’t discovered in the first two months of being administered. In other words, fears of long-term side effects are unfounded based on what is currently known from 70 years of vaccines. Prayers go out to the uninformed so that they may understand that vaccines target the acquired immune system to produce disease-fighting responses to specific antigens. mRNA vaccines deliver instructions to produce a portion of the spike protein (harmless antigen) so that the acquired immune system mounts a defense. Fears of “reprogramming” or “overdrive” immune system responses are not fears based on science.
Most of all, prayers of hope for humanity to act collectively to bring an end to the pandemic.

Sherry, roughly 7,000 people in the U.S. die per day after brushing their teeth. True fact. Of course, correlation doesn’t equate to causation. Another way to view it is there are between 7000 and 8000 daily deaths in the U.S. every day. Roughly 50% of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated. Therefore, one could state that thousands of people die every day following Covid vaccination and they’d be correct. However, that’s far different than saying the thousands die every day BECAUSE of the Covid vaccination. You’d be hard-pressed, in fact, it’s impossible to conclusively state that 3,544 deaths occurred as a direct result of a Covid vaccination. The proof just isn’t there, despite what Tucker Carlson may claim.
Sherry – It’s about institutional credibility. It’s about experts. You can research, for yourself, what Courts use as a basis to qualify witnesses to actually testify, under oath about an “opinion”, presented as a fact. Sometimes we just have to deal reality. “Rightful opportunity to decide for themselves” is good. But only goes so far. I trust Joe Biden’s agency expertise. i did not – and do not – trust DeSantis’s. And the stakes involve life and death decisions – at the personal and institutional levels.
Why has our local and state data now been retitle a “situation” report? What happened to our dashboard and does it have anything to do with the fact that the CDC stopped counting breakthrough cases back on May 1? I feel like we are not getting the robust and detailed data we were used to seeing and thus folks will continue to struggle to make good decisions.
