Back 2 School Bash Cancelled

From The County Insider
Office of the Nassau County Manager
August 2, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the decision to cancel the Back-2-School Event scheduled for this Saturday, August 7, 2021.

The health and safety of our residents is our number one priority. With the recent rise of COVID cases in the County, we do not feel it would be responsible to host an event that promotes gathering of crowds and interaction of large groups of children prior to sending them back to school.

We are very disappointed about this situation but we feel that cancelling is the right thing to do at this time. We appreciate the sponsors and community organizations who agreed to be part of what was going to be a great event. We look forward to hosting special events at a time in the future when it is safer to do so.

If you have any questions, please contact Parks & Recreation Director, Jay Robertson, at (904) 530-6120 or via email at [email protected].

But school promotes “interaction of large groups of children” for long periods of time indoors. The worst possible combination of factors – no vaccinations, no masks, close indoor space. A super spreader event that goes on and on. . .

Most children do not get as sick as most adults, but some do and suffer long COVID too. Most children do not get run over by a car when they play in the street, but some do so we tell all children not to play in the street to save the lives of the few who do.

Too dangerous for a party, but ok to put them all in a classroom for 7 hours. Hooookay!

I applaud the decision by our county to put the lives of children first, and cancel this super-spreader event. It is just astonishing to me that our Governor is insisting on putting our children’s lives on the line by mandating in-person school WITHOUT requiring masks!! Florida is the perfect example of how politics can endanger us all. I could go on, but it is too depressing.
