Covid is not going away. To think otherwise is not wise. Regardless of political or religious convictions, it behooves all of us to stay current on local and state levels of virus testing, infection, spread and sadly, deaths. The Fernandina Observer has done its best to report numbers as they are made available. But there is other information that we occasionally pass along as well. The chart posted above from the WHO indicates the first “Variants of Concern” Alpha B1117 on Dec. 18, 2020 from the United Kingdom. China is not mentioned at all in the chart. Unfortunately, we can’t trust anything coming from the WHO.
The chart presents the labels of variants. The original would not be a variant and would not be listed in this chart. You can trust WHO.
I applaud your interest in keeping our community informed. Wish the News Leader would too. Sorry the State won’t provide info on hospitalizations and deaths. I guess are concerned about bad PR effecting tourism.
