North Florida TPO plans for sidewalk, trails and rail crossing

Representatives of the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) briefed the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) at the May 18, 2021 FBCC meeting on the status of projects planned for the City during Fiscal Years 2021/22 through 2025/26.

Two local projects are planned for FY2021/22:

— A sidewalk on Citrona Drive between Hickory and Beech Streets ($339,035)
— A signal safety upgrade for the railroad crossing at Bonnieview Road ($234,290).

Three segments of the Amelia Island trail system are planned for FY 2023/24:

—From A1A 8th Street to Bailey Road ($696,976)
—From Bailey Road to 14th Street ($709,607)
—From Via Del Rey to 14th Street ($996,850)

Nassau County is the lead agency for the sidewalk and trail projects; FDOT leads the rail crossing project.

TPO briefers Wanda Forrest and Elizabeth DeJesus have been briefing local governments in North Florida on the various projects in the proposed plan, which is scheduled for final adoption at 10:00 a.m. on June 10, 2021 at the North Florida TPO Office, 980 North Jefferson Street in Jacksonville.  Prior to that meeting, a virtual public meeting will be held from 4-5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
