CPA Barbara Boyd representing the City’s auditing firm of Purvis Gray and Company presented the Annual Audit Report for FY 2019-20 to the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) at the FBCC’s April 6, 2021 Regular Meeting.  Boyd said that after auditing the financial records, “We issued an unmodified opinion.  That means your numbers are fairly stated in all categories.  That’s the highest level of assurance that we as auditors can provide.”   Auditors also reviewed internal controls and found no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses.  Similarly, they found no compliance issues.  “All in all,” Boyd said, “we issued a clean report.”

Boyd highlighted the healthy balance of committed/uncommitted general fund reserves at 35 percent.

She thanked City Comptroller Pauline Testagrose and her team for their assistance over the 3-week period of the audit.  Vice Mayor Len Kreger added his thanks to those of the auditors to city staff for a job well done and “an excellent report.”  He said, “I always like to see the auditors come.”
