3/25/21 @ 1:30 p.m. – At the Monday, March 22, 2021 meeting, the Board of Nassau County Commissioners approved Resolution No.2021-035 proclaiming April 2021 as Flood Awareness Month. The County’s Stormwater Engineer, Katie Peay, was in attendance to accept the Resolution.

The Board of County Commissioners is a voluntary participant in the National Flood Insurance Program that provides residents with the opportunity to protect themselves against loss through the purchase of flood insurance at reduced premiums. The Florida Floodplain Management Association (FFMA) encourages public education and awareness of potential weather hazards. As such, the County utilizes public awareness campaigns and public outreach events to encourage residents to know their risks of flooding by determining their flood zone and taking necessary steps to protect personal property.
