Passcode: 172992

The featured speaker will be Alexandra (Alex) Kearns, founder of St. Marys EarthKeepers. In 2006, Kearns relocated to south Georgia from Ontario, Canada. She was drawn to the southern United States, having majored in Southern Literature in college following a long career in marketing and public relations. Shortly after settling in Georgia, she noticed there was no recycling program in St. Marys. To address this issue, she established St. Marys EarthKeepers, a 501c3 environment non-profit, which now boasts one of the nation’s highest curbside recycling compliance rates.

Kearn’s Wild Nite presentation will focus on her organization’s work in southeast Georgia including Cumberland Island and the present threat to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

Wild Amelia’s mission is to educate residents and visitors about the local bioregion and encourage stewardship of the area’s natural resources through events and programs that educate and entertain while promoting a conservation ethic.
