Amelia Island, Fla. (December 9, 2020) – The Plantation Artists’ Guild and Gallery (PAGG) and its volunteer corps, Art Lovers, are asking for favorite photographs taken on Amelia Island and in Nassau County during the year 2020. The project, “2020 A Look Back”,  mourns and celebrates our amazing year of challenge. Entry forms are available on the gallery’s website – www.paggart.com.

What will be done with the photos collected? Once collected 100 photos will be selected  and will be available for community exhibitions and in a video.  An opening reception (live or virtual) will be held at PAGG. Large reproductions of the winning photographs will be displayed. The next stop will be an exhibit during the opening of the Courtyard – Springhill Suites Marriott – Amelia Island properties. Throughout the year the exhibition will travel and be displayed in galleries, banks, retail outlets, or public buildings. There are plans for a book.

PAGG is seeking photos submitted by county residents, tourists and visitors and must have been taken in Nassau County in the year 2020.  Photos can reveal emotion, display adaption, humor or resilience. It is not just about the pandemic – our lives continued through elections, storms, comets, birthday celebrations, weddings, holidays, a football season and much much more. Each submission will be accompanied by a short narrative about why the photo is special. It is said a picture speaks 1000 words, the goal is to capture the emotional roller coaster of 2020 in just 100 pictures….the best, worst, and the wonder of the year 2020.

The project title sponsor is Courtyard/Springhill Suite by Marriott – Amelia Island. The two properties will open in the spring of 2021 on Amelia Island. Additional sponsors include Baptist Medical Center Nassau, the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council, the Fernandina Beach News Leader and Main Street. The project welcomes additional sponsors and partners.

Any net revenue associated with this project will be donated to Arts Alive Nassau, a non-profit benefiting the children of Nassau County.
