This Amelia Lifelong Learning short course provides an introduction to a longer course on the same subject. The objective of the short course is to have some intellectual fun glimpsing parts of the past and possible futures. The class will explore several essential issues: Where did we come from? Where are we going? Through a glass darkly: a complex, fast-changing, and variable-speed future. There is no crystal ball. What will determine the future? Each session will include briefings and roundtable discussions.

Course guide Richard Scribner has a BS, MS, and PhD (Physics). He has had a long career in government and education and is the author of numerous books and articles on science and public policy. Fathoming what the future might hold is a hobby.

The class meets at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Room 201, on Tuesdays, October 27-November 17, 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Masks and social distancing will be observed. Class limit is 9. Class fee is $40.
