Donna Deegan, the former Jacksonville TV news anchor, three-time cancer survivor and healthcare advocate, announced today she has raised $350,000 from over 4,500 individual donors in the final fundraising quarter before the election to support her campaign in Florida’s 4th Congressional District. In total, Deegan has raised close to $1 million from nearly 11,000 donations – far outraising Democratic nominees from the 4th District in recent elections.

“We finished our final fundraising quarter with the wind at our backs thanks to the growing enthusiasm for our people powered campaign,” said Deegan. “These resources give us the essential ability to get our message out to voters in these final weeks.

Deegan’s $350,000 raised in the 3rd Quarter came from 99.8% individual donors, 90% of whom are Florida residents. “I am beyond grateful to everyone who has chipped in $5, $10, $20 and more, especially at this difficult and uncertain time for many in our community,” said Deegan.

In addition to Deegan’s strong third quarter fundraising total, hundreds of committed volunteers have been talking with voters and hand delivering campaign literature directly to thousands of voters’ doors.

“We aren’t taking anything for granted. We are going to give it everything we have in these last 27 days,” said Deegan. “We are going to keep reaching out and having conversations with voters because the people I talk to are hungry for new leadership – they want a champion in Congress who will actually listen and put them and their interests before politics and power.

While Deegan has held dozens of town halls on a range of subjects, voters of Congressional District 4 will have an opportunity to examine their choice in this election when Deegan and her opponent have their first and only televised debate on Oct. 14th at 8p on News4Jax Channel 4.

“There’s a lot at stake in this election and voters know it,” said Campaign Manager Erica Connor. “While Rutherford has been running for office for years, this upcoming debate will be an opportunity to contrast her candidacy with his record and offer a refreshing choice for First Coast voters.”

Deegan is running to represent Florida’s 4th Congressional District. She is a fourth generation Jacksonville native, 25 year award winning journalist and broadcaster, 3 time breast cancer survivor, and founder of The Donna Marathon and Foundation aiding nearly 14,000, and counting, underserved families facing cancer and funding groundbreaking breast cancer research.
