Florida Trust for Historic Preservation
October 8, 2020
October and the coming of Halloween reminds us of some especially unique historic sites in Florida: cemeteries.
Cemeteries are a wonderful place to learn more about the history and people in a community, and can engage people by bridging diverse interests from genealogy to birdwatching.
Our friends at the Florida Public Archaeology Network recently held their first virtual Cemetery Resource Protection Training
. Their next virtual CRPT
will be on October 22 at 9 a.m. On October 8, at 6 p.m., FPAN Northeast Region will host a session on Erased Cemeteries
, discussing African American Cemeteries in Florida. You can sign up for these programs, learn more and check out other FPAN offerings on their website
Do you have a favorite historic cemetery in Florida, or story to share about a haunted historic site? Let us know
and have a Happy Halloween!
