AMELIA ISLAND, Florida (September 18, 2020) – A coastal treasure of Northeast Florida, Amelia Island captivates visitors with breathtaking natural beauty, Southern elegance and hospitality, a collection of upscale accommodations and historical inns, and a wide array of exciting, outdoor activities. This irresistible mix of outdoor adventure, seaside serenity, and luxurious lifestyle also leaves a “pawsitive” impression on visitors traveling with their four-legged friends. Furry family members are welcome at many pet-friendly locations around the island, including public beaches, outdoor restaurants, select hotel accommodations, and other fun-filled local activities.

“Our goal is to create an unforgettable getaway for the entire family, and for a growing number of travelers, that includes four-legged family members,” said Gil Langley, President and CEO of the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. “With so many people staying at home during the current health crisis, many pets have gotten used to having us around and people are reluctant to leave them behind to go on vacation. On Amelia Island, you don’t have to make that tough choice; bring them along.”

Pet-friendly accommodations are available at some of the island’s award-winning hotels and resorts, including: Seaside Ameila Inn; The Villas at Ameila Island; The Ritz-Carlton, Ameila Island; Home2 Suites by Hilton and more. At the Residence Inn Amelia Island, dogs are greeted with a treat, dog bowl and ball. The Omni Amelia Island Resort also welcome pets and offers special dog-friendly dining at Falcon’s Nest, Marche Burette, and Natural Slice on property.

After checking in, pet lovers are encouraged to head out and enjoy the various dog-friendly opportunities on the island. A showcase of natural wildlife and scenery, Egans Creek Greenway offers 300 lush acres of protected area to roam with furry pals. Amelia River Cruises is a fido fan favorite, where visitors can bring along leashed dogs at no charge for the narrated, historic waterfront tour in Fernandina. Considered one of the destination’s most appealing attractions, Amelia Island’s breathtaking beaches also allow leashed pets from dawn to dusk (with the exception of state parks). Pups can make a splash at The Nassau Humane Society where daily passes grant admission to their swimming pool, four bathing stations, agility training area and dog park.

Always feeding the fun on Amelia Island is a growing collection of outstanding restaurants. After working up an appetite, many visitors enjoy a stop at Café Karibo or Timoti’s Seafood Shak for a tasty bite and great atmosphere on their pet-friendly, shaded outdoor patio. Sliders Seaside Grill is also very accommodating to pets, with complimentary water bowls provided on the outdoor patio overlook the ocean. Red Bones Dog Bakery & Boutique offers homemade dog treats, cakes and paw lickin’ appetizers that will satisfy any puppy craving.
