Amelia Community Theatre celebrates its 40th season with six new plays, new viewing formats, and new flexible ticket packages for season membership. For the 2020-2021 season, guests may attend Main Stage plays at the theatre or live stream them at home.

The season opens in October with Jerry Mayer’s dramatic comedy Two Across. It asks the question, “Can you find love in an 80-minute rapid transit ride while competitively working a crossword puzzle?” The answer is absolutely!

Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End by Margaret Engel and Allison Engel will be in December. The beloved humorist asks, “If life is a bowl of cherries, what am I doing in the pits?”

The intriguing February 2021 play by playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer is called Those Who Fall in Love Like Anchors Dropped Upon the Ocean Floor. This thought-provoking story transcends time and believes, “Someone in love, they can wait forever.” Each of the these shows has a suggested rating of PG-13.

“We are excited that our 40th season will offer new ways to be creative and continue our mission to produce quality theatre, even in these unique times,” says ACT’s Executive Director Tener Wade. “We are unfolding our season by announcing three of the six titles now. As we adapt to the changing requirements of the pandemic, we will announce the shows slated for April, June, and August of 2021.”

The size of the in-house audience at each performance will be limited, to comply with capacity rules and social distancing, so each performance will also be live streamed. Every show will have ten performances, two of which are matinees, meaning ten opportunities to be at the theatre, and ten opportunities to live stream the play.

ACT will offer season memberships with four different flex ticket packages to choose from, rather than the traditional season ticket. Flex tickets are flexible! The season member chooses how to use them. They may be used to watch a play at the theatre, or used for live streaming at home. The Flex-12 package is $260; the Flex-10 is $220; the Flex-6 is $135, and the Flex-5 is $110. The ticket holder may choose to use a ticket or two for each of the six shows, or include family and friends and use all the tickets for one play. Single show tickets will also be available for those not purchasing a flex ticket package.
