Earlier this week construction crews began clearing trees alongside northbound A1A/Heckscher Drive on Little Talbot Island. This clearing work is in preparation for the next segment of the off-road paved path through Talbot Islands State Park.

This new paved trail segment will start from the existing trail near the Ranger Station for Talbot Islands SP, then continue along the northeast side of A1A, cross two creeks and then link with the existing southern end of the Timucuan Trail.

Work by Superior Construction Company is expected to last approximately 2 years and will necessitate some temporary 1-way traffic on Heckscher Dr using flagmen and traffic control devices. Our regular Tuesday morning NFBC Ride will be affected.

FDOT is preparing a news release this week about the project. Updates will be available on our AmeliaIslandTrail.org
