Nassau County announces rent and mortgage relief funding

In late June 2020, the Governor directed $250 million in CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) funding (designated the “Coronavirus Relief Funds or CRF funds”) to be spent on rental and mortgage assistance activities necessary due to the COVID‐19 emergency. In mid-July, Nassau County was notified that it was allocated $372,504 through a partnership with the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (“FHFC”).

The Nassau County Commission has approved the use of the CRF funds to assist in rental and mortgage payments for eligible applicants meeting HUD income guidelines. Any activities (reduction in income, termination/layoff of employment) that occurred between March 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020 due to COVID-19 are eligible.

To ensure that Nassau County meets the CRF/FHFC program requirements, the County is finalizing the application process for a launch date of August 10, 2020. The application submittal period will be August 10 – 24, 2020.

Information about the CRF Program for Rental and Mortgage Assistance will be available at https://www.nassaucountyfl.com/1039/Nassau-CARES starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday August 10, 2020.
