Thank you for allowing me to earn your trust and serve as your Nassau County Commissioner. It has been a tremendous honor working for you along with my fellow colleagues. As you know we are in unprecedented and challenging times with COVID 19. My priorities have been keeping our residents and visitors safe, while working with our local, state and federal partners to re-open our economy.
Danny Leeper is a lifelong resident of Nassau County who lives in his County Commission District and will continue to represent all Nassau County residents placing Nassau County first. He comes from a family with a history of providing service to others in this community. His parents Joe and Alberta Leeper have resided in Fernandina Beach for 63 years. Married to Kelly Weeks, a Registered Nurse whose family has lived in Nassau County for four generations, together they have three children by marriage, Danielle, Walker and John. Danielle serves as a teacher in St. Johns County and her husband as a Police Officer with the City of St. Augustine.
Danny is a strong leader for Nassau County. My top priorities continue to be COVID 19 challenges, public safety, keeping our county finances healthy with a multi-year budget and five year Capital Improvement Plan, assisting our local small businesses through the pandemic, improving our infrastructure and implementing smart growth principles for economic development opportunities to broaden our tax base. I will continue to work with my fellow commissioners to protect our vital industries in Nassau County. With your support, I will continue to work on attracting higher paying jobs, finding solutions to our transportation system, protect our natural resources and ensuring we have a safe county with a healthy economy.
Danny has over 36 years of public service both in appointed and elected offices. He is the former Chief of the Fernandina Beach Fire Department, having served as a firefighter paramedic for 26 years and the Emergency Management Director.
After serving 12 years on the Nassau County Port Authority, Danny was elected to Nassau County Commission. Danny is currently Chairman of the Nassau County Commission and the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council.
He serves as an Executive Member with the Statewide Small County Coalition, Florida Association of Counties Board of Directors and the Northeast Florida Transportation Planning Organization. Danny is the Director and Manager of a successful real estate company with over $126 million in annual sales.
He has held the following leadership positions with the Nassau County Transit Working Group, Family Support Services, Fernandina Beach Christian Academy, the Nassau County Impact Fee Task Force and former Chairman for Shrimp Festival Committee.
Danny has been involved with many projects throughout his career and understands the importance of developing relationships, building trust and maintaining the quality of life we enjoy in Nassau County.
