June 30, 2020

Candidate John Cascone

John Cascone, candidate for County Judge for Nassau County has spent over thirty years representing the families of Nassau County in a wide variety of legal matters. John is the only candidate for County Judge with the breadth of experience and range of cases handled to bring the experience and wisdom to the bench needed to best serve the community.

John is a graduate of Florida Junior College, now FSCJ, the University of North Florida and South Texas College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. For twenty-seven of his thirty years in Nassau County John has been Board Certified in Criminal Trial, the only candidate for Judge to have earned the Bar’s highest recognition for experience, knowledge, competency, professionalism, character and ethics. Only seven percent of all members of the Florida Bar earn such recognition and John will bring that level of experience and service to all the people of Nassau County as their next County Judge.

John and Jennifer, his wife, have been involved in a multitude of community efforts during their time in Nassau County. Jennifer spent over twenty years on the Historic District Commission in the city of Fernandina Beach, served as a Brownie leader for their daughter Grace and led the sale of Girl Scout Cookies for two years. John and Jennifer both served on the committee that raised the money and obtained the grants to renovate the St. Michael’s Academy to its historic splendor. John served on the first Nassau County Drug, Alcohol and Mental Health Committee to address a need he observed in his daily activities in Nassau County’s courts. He also served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Nassau for a number of years as well as mentoring the Teen Court Competition Team for four years. John and Jennifer have also been members of Farm Bureau of Nassau County for over eleven years.

John’s length of service to all members of the county community, his life experience and broad range of legal experience, especially in the courts of Nassau County, his recognition as a specialist in Criminal Trial – the largest portion of the County Court docket – and over two hundred jury trials make him uniquely qualified to continue serving the people of Nassau County as their next Judge.

Editor’s Note:  John Cascone faces Jenny Higginbotham Barrett, Jan Carver and Harrison Wesley Poole for the position of Nassau County Judge.  The August 18, election will determine the winner of this race when all registered voters can cast their ballots.
