Editor’s Note: Today’s report from the Florida Dept of Health shows a daily increase in the number of coronavirus cases to 1,698. This may be a record number of cases reported in a single day. Yesterday, we made a note on the Nassau County Cases’ graphic, that we did not believe the Median Age listed at 57 was being updated. Mike Spino did some investigating (to view his source of information click here) and commented on yesterday’s post. “The median age of the 84 cases recorded [yesterday’s figure] since March 10, is 44. Since May 1, the median age of the 27 cases recorded is 33.” Mike suggested we might assume from this breakdown, that once we understood the seriousness of the virus, older folks stayed home and took protective measures.

Florida Department of Health Updates New COVID-19 Cases, Announces Forty-Seven Deaths Related to COVID-19
~67,456 positive cases in Florida residents and 1,613 positive cases in non-Florida residents~
Test results for more than 31,400 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Wednesday, June 10. Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are:
- 1,698 new positive COVID-19 cases (1,677 Florida residents and 21 non-Florida residents)
- 47 Florida resident deaths related to COVID-19
The percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 overall is 5 percent. On June 10, 5.5 percent of new cases** tested positive.
There are a total of 69,069 Florida cases*** with 2,848 deaths related to COVID-19.
Since data reported at 11 a.m. on June 11, the deaths of forty-seven Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Alachua, Broward, Collier, Dade, Desoto, Dixie, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Martin, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota and St. Lucie counties.
Nassau County Emergency Management: As of 11:00 AM, June 11, 2020, FDOH Nassau has received two new cases. The first case is a 44 year old female who had no known contact with a confirmed case and had no travel-related exposure. The second case is a 50-year-old male who had unknown contact with a confirmed case and had unknown travel-related exposure. The Health Department is conducting case investigation and contact tracing on these cases. The individuals will remain in isolation until released by public health. This brings the total case count to date to eighty-six for Nassau County (78 residents, 8 non-FL residents). As of this date, 64 of the 78 Florida residents have been released from isolation.
