Florida Department of Health Updates New COVID-19 Cases, Announces Thirty-Six Deaths Related to COVID-19
~65,779 positive cases in Florida residents and 1,592 positive cases in non-Florida residents~
The DOH COVID-19 dashboard is providing updates once per day. The state also provides a report detailing surveillance data for every Florida county, which is available here.
Test results for more than 23,800 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Tuesday, June 9. Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are:
- 1,371 new positive COVID-19 cases (1,331 Florida residents and 40 non-Florida residents)
- 36 Florida resident deaths related to COVID-19
The percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 overall is 5 percent. On June 9, 5.5 percent of new cases** tested positive.
There are a total of 67,371 Florida cases*** with 2,801 deaths related to COVID-19.
Since data reported at 11 a.m. on June 10, the deaths of thirty-six Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Broward, Dade, Desoto, Hamilton, Hillsborough, Lee, Leon, Manatee, Monroe, Orange, Palm, Beach, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties.
Nassau County Emergency Management: As of 11:00 AM, June 10, 2020, FDOH Nassau has received one new non-Florida resident case. The case is a 45-year-old female who had travel-related exposure but no known contact to a confirmed case. The Health Department is conducting a case investigation and contact tracing on this case. The individual will remain in isolation until released by public health. This brings the total case count to date to eighty-four for Nassau County (76 residents, 8 non-FL residents).
As of last Friday, June 5, 64 of 76 residents have been released from isolation. The number released will again go up when we report it on Friday, June 12. Just a friendly reminder that CHD does not release non-residents as they are under another jurisdiction.

Dear Editors,
I looked at the county data on the SERT website and confirmed that the median age of the 84 cases recorded since March 10, is 44. Since May 1, the median age of the 27 cases recorded is 33. We can assume that once we understand the seriousness of the virus that older folks stayed home and took protective measures.
