Good news for area motorists! The FDOT announced State Road 200 is on a list of projects added to Governor Ron DeSantis’ fast track road project program.  According to FDOT, “The SR 200 capacity improvement project between Rubin Davis Lane to O’Neill Scott Road will be accelerated by 2 months.”

When DeSantis announced Florida’s stay at home policy, he took advantage of the expected light traffic on Florida highways to accelerate road and bridge projects. State Road 200 is among 40 critical transportation projects moving forward as a result of COVID-19.

“FDOT is proud to continue implementing Governor DeSantis’ forward-thinking directive to accelerate crucial transportation projects and more swiftly enhance the state’s overall transportation system,” said Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Kevin J. Thibault, P.E. “The transportation industry is vital to our economy and is essential as we move forward to re-open Florida. We will continue to accelerate projects as much as possible, while also incorporating the CDC’s safety and sanitation guidelines.”

Good News for motorists! Where?Open up after a two month plus lock down of all businesses and……start working again on SR 200 just in time for xxxx traffic! Zero gets done for weeks at a time since January(ah those weather delays), the “project” is now two years plus behind schedule, Gov issues another “proclamation” and expects to “get’r done”?. Oh and all this propaganda and the “project” will get done two months ahead of time! After 8 plus years of construction we’re supposed to be happy? This is so stupid it’s almost sad. Are we in Kansas yet? In the end, 4 lanes down to two at the bridge with enough traffic lights between I-95 and the island to choke a horse and this is improvement?

For those of you “new” to the area, SR200 “improvements”(which flood now when it rains) were started over ?~~~~ Eight years ago. Completion dates keep being pushed back due to “design modifications and site conditions”(translation, OJT with the State of FL DOT learning how to build a road as they go)

How do you “accelerate by 2 months” a project that is already over a year behind???
