If you or someone you know has lost a job or been otherwise affected by the pandemic and needs food, financial assistance, medical or dental care, you are urged to contact Barnabas Center at (904) 261-7000 where you will be given detailed information that will guide you to the services you need.

The Barnabas staff assesses and begins the assistance process via this initial phone call with individuals in crisis. By providing food, financial assistance for rent, mortgage and utility payments, Barnabas helps stabilize individuals and families until they can return to work.

“Just as things were starting to come together for me and my kids, and we were going to move into our first apartment, losing my income was devastating,” said a 24-year-old single mother with two young children who lost her job in March due to the closure of the business at which she worked .

She is among the thousands of Nassau County residents who were suddenly unemployed without warning or the ability to pay for everyday basics such as food, medications and housing.

“I lost my job the day before I had planned to move into the apartment,” she said. “Someone told me to contact Barnabas for help. Without the assistance from Barnabas, we would not have been able to move in and start our new life. I’ve even benefited from the food program and can now feed my children healthy foods from the mobile pantry.”

Barnabas is now offering produce and other food to those in need during this crisis through weekly distributions in Callahan, Hilliard and Fernandina Beach, and at the drive-through food pantry on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Barnabas Center located in the 1303 Jasmine Street main office in Fernandina Beach.

The schedule for weekly food assistance is posted on barnabasnassau.org/about-us/events/.

Barnabas Health Services continues to provide critical medical and dental services during the pandemic. Barnabas’ clinicians now provide telemedicine to existing patients and continue to see patients who have emergency health needs at the Fernandina Beach and Callahan offices. Emergency dental services continue to be provided on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Fernandina Beach office.

Nassau County neighbors who have been impacted by the pandemic can count on Barnabas to connect them to the help they need now…and in the future. Call (904) 261-7000 today.
