Raising Funds for Needy Seniors in Nassau County
In celebration of 45 years of serving seniors, Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA) is commemorating this milestone with a “luxury voyage” aboard the SS Sapphire Seas, Gem of the Island, during our 16th Annual Gala on Friday, December 6, from 6-10 p.m., at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, 39 Beach Lagoon Rd. News4Jax Anchor Kent Justice will serve as Master of Ceremonies and Aaron Bean will excite the crowd as Auctioneer for some very special live auction items, including a sapphire and diamond ring, generously donated by Robison Jewelers. Baptist Medical Center Nassau is this year’s Presenting Sponsor.
“We are thrilled that Baptist Nassau is joining us as Presenting Sponsor for this year’s Gala as we celebrate 45 years of serving seniors,” said Janice Ancrum, President and CEO, NCCOA. “Over the years, Baptist has demonstrated such partnership and generosity toward our organization…it continues through our Life Centers, programs and services, and fundraising events such as our annual Gala. We are so thankful for their support.”
Along with a first class-inspired meal – rivaled by those served on board the grand transatlantic ocean liners of the early 1900s – Fernandina’s own John Springer will tickle the ivories during cocktail hour and musical headliner Leelynn Osborne (compared to Michael Bublé) and his five-piece ensemble will entertain into the evening. Both silent and live auction items will generate needed funds for seniors in Nassau County. Over the years, while the needs of our seniors have not changed the number of seniors needing resources has sharply increased. Coupled with declining local, state and federal funding, NCCOA continues to rely on the generosity of our local community.
