Come to the Big Chess Procession, Artwalk Saturday, Oct. 12. This project is developed through the creative talents of Island Art Association (IAA) artists and the Amelia Island Chess Club. Artists “adopted” and decorated large chess pieces, and painted a chess board in the IAA courtyard. Chess club members will conduct a game during Artwalk, after a procession of chess pieces at 5 pm. Both organizations offer multi-generational programs, and have in common a goal to help one another improve.
Island Art will announce winners of their October-November “Impactful Weather” Nouveau Art show and sale at 6 pm. A reception for featured artist of the month, Mary Libby, is also held. All located at the IAA Gallery and Courtyard, 18 North 2nd St.
To reach Tom Rowan, Amelia Island Chess, send him an email: [email protected]. Or call 277-3173. Information about IAA’s charitable and educational mission and programs is at islandart.org
