SBDC classes for small business owners

The Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of North Florida has announced its upcoming line-up of workshops designed to help area small businesses grow and thrive in today’s business environment.  FSBDC programs deliver up-to-date management advice, training and information to help business owners make sound decisions and to assist potential owners in getting started on the right foot. The Florida Small Business Development Center at University of North Florida serves 18 counties with full service offices in Duval, Marion, St. Johns, Nassau, Suwannee, Putnam and Clay counties and is part of the Florida SBDC Network and the national Association of Small Business Development Centers.

How to S.T.A.R.T.U.P. Your Own Business

This workshop will give you an overview of the seven basic requirements for business STARTUP: Selecting an idea, Testing the market, Acquiring capital, writing a plan, Turning for help, Understanding legal requirements, and Putting it all together. Registration includes a workbook and start-up kit for NE Florida counties.

Exit Options: When the Time is Right

Are Your Growing or Scaling Your Business?

In this three hour workshop, attendees will learn:–Why so few businesses achieve scale–The advantages and disadvantages of growing versus scaling–Whether or not your business model is scalable–Requirements of the owner/founder to move from growth to scale–Key strategic factors that are mandatory for scalability

 

Government Contracting Prevailing Wage Seminar
February 7 | 10am – 3pm | $15

Learn how The Service Contract Act, the Davis-Bacon Act and Fair Labor Standards Acts impact your ability to support a government contract and remain compliant in your payroll practices. Nonprofit Startup 101

The process of transforming your nonprofit idea into an operating organization can be complicated. This workshop will provide the information you need to start a nonprofit organization in Northeast Florida – begin with an understanding of why you may or may not want to start a nonprofit organization and what opportunities may be available to you.

QuickBooks 101 (desktop version)
February 14 | 9am – 12pm | $75 | UNF Hicks HallYou’ve made the first step and decided to utilize the QuickBooks program for your business, now what? Not sure where to start? This introductory workshop will provide you with the information you need to get started on the right foot. Learn how to use QuickBooks in this easy-to understand hands-on class.  Students will work in a computer lab on UNF’s campus, with a QuickBooks Pro Advisor Instructor on examples for real experience using QuickBooks for PC.
