WRITE-IN CANDIDATES:  A recent letter to the editor encouraged voters to write-in an individual’s name as a write-in candidate in the County Commission, District 4 race.   When writing a name on the line for a write-in candidate, the only vote that will count will be for a qualified write-in candidate’s name.   In the County Commission, District 4 race, there was only one candidate who qualified as a write-in candidate and that write-in candidate withdrew from the race after the ballots had been printed.  Therefore, Thomas Ford, the only qualified candidate remaining in the race is an unopposed candidate and is deemed to be elected to office.

The names of all qualified candidates, including qualified write-in candidates (WRI), can be found at www.VoteNassau.comby clicking the “Research My Ballot” button on the home page.

VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS:  Regarding another recent letter to the editor, where unfortunately our office did not receive the voter’s vote by mail ballot until well after the Primary Election was over due to a postal error, we would like to encourage all voters to make sure their ballot  has been received inthe Nassau County Supervisor of Elections office before 7 p.m. on November 6, 2018.   Voters can check the status of their vote by mail ballot by visiting www.VoteNassau.comand clicking the “Track My Mail Ballot” button on the home page.  If you have returned your voted vote by mail ballot to our office and want to ensure that we have received your ballot, please call our office at 904.491.7500 or track it online.   The United States Postal Service recommends that vote by mail ballots be mailed at least one week before the deadline (November 6, 2018) for the ballot to be received timely.
