The Fernandina Observerwelcomes the following businesses newly licensed or relicensed to operate in the city of Fernandina Beach last month:

During August 2018, the city surveyed 379 permits, a decrease of 18 from August 2017. The number of permits for new construction was 24, of which 23 were commercial and residential. August 2017 recorded 16 permits for new construction, all of which were residential. Permit fees collected by the city in August were $447,451, an increase from the $288,811 collected in August 2017. The following activities accounted for the most permits issued by category: Electrical (67); Mechanical (56); Tree Removal (48).
Permitted building activity is up for the first 8 months of 2018 (3,044) over the number of permits issued for the first 8 months of 2017 (2,739).
