Les DeMerle Amelia Island Jazz Festival Week October 7-14, 2018

Each year the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) issues a Proclamation proclaiming the annual fall Les DeMerle Amelia Island Jazz Festival Week and encourages local citizens to enjoy the talented performances of world renowned artists who perform at various venues throughout the city and Amelia Island. Founder/Artistic Director/Board of Directors President Les DeMerle,Board of Directors and Vice President Bonnie Eisele accepted the Proclamation at the September 18, 2018 Regular Meeting of the FBCC.

In reading the Proclamation, Mayor John Miller highlighted the scheduled performers, the many venues, and the Amelia Island Jazz Festival’s many educational programs including Jazz In the Schools, Jazz For Kids, Jazz For Seniors, as well as a Scholarship Program which supports continuing music education for high school musicians who desire to study jazz music in college.

In accepting the Proclamation, Les DeMerle thanked the city for its steady support over the years and invited citizens to enjoy the festival this year that features world-class jazz in many styles, including Contemporary, Big Band, Latin, Swing, Dixieland, Blues and more.
