Commissioner Chapman’s absence was noted with hopes for speedy recovery.

Last week Fernandina Beach City Commissioner Phil Chapman suffered a small stroke brought on by dehydration.  According to a statement from Chapman’s wife Marlene, the commissioner is currently in rehab and expects to be released soon. He is looking forward to returning soon to the work of the city commission.  Mrs. Chapman passed along the commissioner’s gratitude for everyone’s kind words and thoughts.

Mayor John Miller read Marlene Chapman’s statement at the beginning of both the Special and Regular Commission meetings on September 4, 2018.  Commissioners and Charter Officers all sent messages of support and wishes for a speedy recovery and return.

Following the meeting, Mrs. Chapman emailed the following:

“We wanted to thank you for your kind words and show of support at the Commission meeting tonight. It is means so much to us, especially at this time. We are blessed by our community and even more so by our city family!”
