International Homeless Animals’ Day & Homeless Animals’ Month
Ms. Pat Glassbrenner, Director of Cats Angels, Inc., accepted a proclamation from Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller at the August 21, 2018 City Commission meeting designating August 2018 Homeless Animals’ Month and August 18, 2018 as Homeless Animals’ Day.
In accepting the Proclamation, Glassbrenner reported that since its inception in 2001, Cats Angels has neutered or spayed more than 17,000 cats (and dogs). She invited local residents to consider adopting one or more of the many homeless cats and dogs currently crowding facilities at Cats Angels and the Nassau Humane Society.
50th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act
Mayor John Miller, at the request of Vice Mayor Len Kreger, delivered a city proclamation recognizing the 50thanniversary of the Fair Housing Act and affirmed Fernandina Beach’s commitment to provide fair housing which in turn fosters inclusive communities free from discrimination.
He said, “By ensuring the availability of affordable housing we promote economic stability, community health, diversity, acceptance and multi-cultural exposure which all lend to the eclectic, interesting and vibrant community we proudly to call Fernandina Beach.
