During July 2018, the city surveyed 414 permits, an increase of 104 from July 2017. The number of permits for new construction was 27, of which 8 were commercial and 19 residential. July 2017 also recorded 27 permits for new construction, but 24 of those were residential. Permit fees collected by the city in July were $416,017, a decrease from the $484,237 collected in July 2017. The following activities accounted for the most permits issued by category: 69 each for Mechanical and Plumbing; General Building Permit – Commercial and Residential (63); and Roofing/reroofing (52).
Building activity is up for the first 7 months of 2018 (2,665) over the number of permits issued for the first 7 months of 2017 (2,342).
