Dr. Nadine Vaughan

Art of the Soul, taught by psychologist Dr. Nadine Vaughan D’Ardenne, is a six-week introductory course that embarks on a journey to our souls by focusing on a different human dilemma each week. With art as the pathway we’ll explore depression, loss, PTSD, OCD, and discover new ways of releasing past hurts. This is an art therapy course with subtle psychological techniques woven into art projects, so attendees are asked to participate in all six sessions. It is not intended to lead to a performance art piece because your take-away will be much more valuable: Possibilities for a happier future. Not unlike St. Francis, “You’ll be encouraged to find hope where there is despair, light where there is darkness, and joy where there is sadness.”

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Dr. Nadine Vaughan D’Ardenne is a Licensed Psychologist, author and artist who’s taught thousands of college students from coast to coast. For this series, she weaves together psychological skills with a lifetime in the arts. Prior to moving to California, to pursue her doctorate in psychology, she was a visual and performance art major at USF. After she became Dr. ‘D’ she remained out west and trained other Psychologists for APA’s HOPE program. Returning to Florida in 2001, she specialized in PTSD, training in state-of-the-art techniques with military doctors. Prior to helping launch a suicide prevention program (Wingman Project), she attended film school (Valencia College), and as the Staff Psychologist for an Indian Reservation, she encountered the dueling demons of addiction and depression. Her California-based Living Theatre Company that combined psychological and performance skills ultimately led to this Art of the Soul series. In this setting, Dr. D’Ardenne provides a healing environment in which we create hope. It doesn’t matter if you’re a psychologist, artist, director. Join Dr. D and start your healing.
