Marina/Riverfront:  City Manager Dale Martin reports that despite continuing and previous assurances that the much/long anticipated 408 process permit from the Army Corps of Engineers to replace the southern attenuator at the Fernandina Beach Harbor Marina would be approved by the end of the week, it wasn’t.  Martin reported, “Latest conversations with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials indicate ‘the permit is on the Colonel’s desk for signature’.”  Stay tuned.

The contractor retained to examine the seawall between the boat ramp and Brett’s Restaurant has scheduled the work for August 7-8.  Report will follow.

City arborist:  The Fernandina Observer’sprevious report that the city had retained an arborist now appears to have been premature. Despite a verbal acceptance of the City’s offer to fill that role, the City, through several repeated efforts, was unable to secure a written response (or any further response) to the original offer. Staff will review the applications and notes from other candidates in order to determine how to proceed. Back to the drawing board.

FY2018-19 Budget Meetings: The City Commission will conduct two budget workshops: 6:00 PM, Monday, August 13, and 6:00 PM, Tuesday, August 14, at City Hall.  Two Public Hearings related to the budget will be conducted: September 4 and September 18.

Official city meetings currently scheduled for August:
