Commercial Structure Fire – 997 Egan’s Creek Lane

At approximately 23:40 on 7/16/18, units from the Fernandina Beach Fire Department and Nassau County Fire-Rescue were dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the area of Tiger Point Marina. On scene, command noted the Ocean Outboard Marine boat shop, fully involved, with fire venting through the roof, and impinging on an additional warehouse. Firefighters maintained a defensive attack on the fire, which was knocked down by 00:56. All units were released by 03:26.

The structure was a total loss, and multiple boats were damaged beyond recognition. No civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.

Individuals from Florida Public Utilities were requested to secure power, the
Department of Environmental Protection and the United States Coast Guard have been notified regarding any potential chemical exposure, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire, alongside members of the Fernandina Beach Police Department.
