Fernandina Beach Proclamations and Board Appointments:  June 5, 2018

Week of June 10-16, 2018 proclaimed National Flag Week; June 14 proclaimed National Flag Day

Citing the Continental Congress’ adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the republic on June 14, 1777, Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller reminded the audience of its place and importance throughout American History.   Cara Curtin accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Amelia Island Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In accepting the Proclamation from Mayor Miller, Cara Curtin invited the public to participate in the annual DAR Flag Retirement Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on June 14 at Nassau County Fire Station 20, 5518 First Coast Highway.

Week of June 4-8, 2018 – Code Enforcement Week

City Code Enforcement Manager Michelle Forstrom and Code Enforcement Officer George “Chip” Wells accepted a proclamation from Mayor Miller recognizing Code Enforcement Officers and staff for providing for the safety, health and welfare of the citizens through the enforcement of building, zoning, housing, business, resort rental, environmental and other codes and Ordinances. In accepting the proclamation, Forstrom thanked the City Commission and explained how city Code Enforcement informally works with residents in attempting to achieve compliance before resorting to citations and fines.
