Wreaths across America has recognized Sharon Driscoll and the Amelia Island Chapter DAR for outstanding participation in the 2017 campaign that resulted in placing wreaths on 1.5 million graves. Mrs. Driscoll and her team placed wreaths at Jacksonville National Cemetery which had been purchased by chapter members, and then returned to the cemetery weeks later to participate in the clean up effort. Plans for 2018 are already underway, and Ms Driscoll hopes to double the number of Wreaths across America she and her team place on veterans’ graves this coming December.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is the largest women’s service organization in the world and contributes over one million volunteer hours a year. The almost 200 members of the Amelia Island Chapter contribute approximately 5,000 volunteer hours and $4,000 in scholarships and awards in Nassau County each year.
