Editor’s Note: Gale Jameyson with help from Chris Whelan who was unavailable but arranged with airport personnel an up close photo opportunity for the Fernandina Observer, captured some great photos to show our readers just some of the activity taking place at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport yesterday.  And there are more photos to come!

Mickey Baity, helped us identify one of the old planes. We have two photos of the A-1 Skyraider. One is a close up of the A-1 Skyraider pilot taking off. According to Baity, the Skyradier was built after the Corsair and frequently used in Viet Nam. Baity believes the yellow plane is a T34 which was used by the Air Force and Navy for training.

Editor’s Note: Gale Jameyson moved to Fernandina Beach from Kennebunk, Maine in 2002 after retiring from UNUM Life Insurance Company. Gale began playing golf in 1962 and is a member of the Golf Club of North Hampton. While in Maine, Gale was involved with the Maine State Golf Association as a director for 10 years and as president for 2 years. Gale enjoys taking pictures while walking Fernandina’s waterfront and spending time in Fort Clinch. We thank Gale for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.
