United Way of Northeast Florida announced today that longstanding partner, Rayonier Advanced Materials, raised a record $79,400 for United Way during their 13th annual golf tournament.

The United Way of Northeast Florida Charity Golf Tournament took place back in
October at Omni Amelia Island Plantation. Organized by the Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) Fernandina Beach Plant, more than 200 players participated this year including RYAM employees from Northeast Florida and South Georgia, RYAM suppliers and business partners, United Way staff, friends and family.

“The tournament is a passion of ours,” said Jeff Scott, RYAM’s engineering manager, who has organized the event for 13 years, with RYAM’s Rhonda Blake. “Knowing the proceeds go to some of the most worthwhile nonprofits in
Fernandina Beach and Nassau County makes every tournament more rewarding than the last.”

Over the life of the event, the tournament has raised $501,000 for United Way and its partner agencies.

“We don’t just work here, we live here,” said C.A. McDonald, RYAM’s Fernandina plant general manager. “Our partnership with United Way began decades ago, and it’s been a pleasure working together to help our neighbors and strengthen our community.”

The funds raised through this golf tournament will help improve the lives of hardworking individuals and families in Fernandina Beach and across Nassau County through United Way and its partners.

“The Rayonier Advanced Materials team is an incredible asset to Nassau County and, through this support and partnership with United Way, they are changing lives, too,” said Michelle Braun, president and CEO of United Way of Northeast Florida. “We are so grateful for their gift – as are the thousands of people in need who benefit from their generosity.”
