At their Special Meeting held following their visioning/goal setting workshop on January 24, 2018, the Fernandina Beach City Commissioners (FBCC) unanimously approved two items relating to marina repairs. Vice Mayor Len Kreger moved and Commissioner Chip Ross seconded the approval of Resolution 2018-07, which accepted the proposal submitted by Applied Technology & Management, Inc. (ATM) in the amount of $34,540 to prepare a design criteria package which will be utilized to solicit proposals for a design-build contract for repairs to the Fernandina Marina.

City Manager Dale Martin said that he expects the ATM work to be completed and before the FBCC for consideration at the February 20, 2018 Regular City Commission meeting. If approved by the FBCC, the city will immediately solicit firms to proceed with design and construction of the attenuator (breakwater dock).

The motion passed on a 5-0 vote.

The second item considered was the award of an additional $19,460 to ATM to oversee the bid process for the marina project. In response to a question from Commissioner Chip Ross, Martin said that Marina Manager Joe Springer would be the point of contact for the contractor, backed up by the City Manager.

This item also passed unanimously.

As the meeting adjourned, Mayor John Miller exclaimed, “Let’s build a marina!”
