Artisan Homes held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the construction of its “Harbor View” 22 unit town homes project.  Townhouses will be  located between South 2nd & 3rd Streets in Fernandina’s historic downtown.

According to a Artisan Broker Robert Swanbeck, a furnished model is expected to be completed by the end of the summer with four additional buildings to follow. So far, six units are under contract.

Well I do hope they are successful with that project. I suppose I am out of touch on this, but I really question if I ever had 600,000 dollars to spend I would want to look across at some old warehouses, a giant papermill, parking lot and a broken down marina. Don’t get me wrong I love the town and I suppose your betting it will continue to transform. Still, you can buy a lot of wonderful places right now with that kind of money. I must admit I was a little surprised to see the new yoga studio being built is an industrial looking metal corrugated building. Right next to the supposed new $700,000 town house. Just seemed odd to me.
