NASSAU COUNTY, FL – Today, the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) announced the county photos selected to be featured in their 2018 FAC Calendar: Bodies of Water. Nassau County will be featured as the front cover. This year’s theme was chosen by our members in the month of July and a photo submission contest was held until mid-September. The Calendar is provided complimentary to Florida’s commissioners and senior county staff and is a small thank you to our members and corporate partners.

“Florida provides a diverse, natural environment unique to only itself, with 1,200 miles of coastline and countless streams, lakes, and marshes. This year’s theme recognizes that our state’s natural beauty is the reason we have chosen to make Florida our home and the reason so many choose to visit Florida every year.” said Florida Association of Counties President and Charlotte County Christopher G. Constance, “The calendar is a way to showcase the pride Floridians have for where they live and highlight the beauty every county offers.”

The theme for the 2018 FAC Calendar was chosen over the summer. Amongst other theme ideas, the vote was overwhelmingly for Bodies of Water. Once the theme was selected, all of Florida’s 67 counties were asked to submit their best photos of the bodies of water in their county with more than 600 photos being submitted. From the submissions, only fifteen were selected for the 2018 FAC Calendar.

Board of County Commissioners Chairman, Danny Leeper, stated “Congratulations to Mark Delfs on having his photo selected as the cover for the 2018 calendar. Egan’s Creek is one of Nassau County’s most beautiful bodies of water and a favorite of residents and visitors alike. The area surrounding the creek is made up of 300 acres of undeveloped trails suitable for walking and bicycling and its environment features a variety of vegetation and wildlife. Mr. Delfs’ photo accurately captured the natural beauty of Egan’s and we are so excited to have it featured for everyone to enjoy”.

The fifteen photos chosen to represent fifteen different counties and the great variety of bodies of water we see in Florida include:

Thank you for the article–I took that photo on a whim and I’m happy I can represent Nassau County with it!
