The fourth annual Navy SEAL Foundation Patriot Day Luncheon, originally scheduled for September 11th, will be on Monday, October 23, 2017. Lunch will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, 2800 Bill Melton Road in Fernandina Beach. Tickets for the September 11th luncheon are valid for lunch on the 23rd, and new tickets may still be purchased.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Emily Feeks will be the featured speaker. In addition to her naval career, she is also a Gold Star Wife. Her husband, Petty Officer First Class Patrick Feeks, was a SEAL who died when the helicopter he was riding was shot down in Afghanistan.

A native of Portland, Main, P.O. Feeks had a lifelong goal of joining the Navy to honor the memory of her grandfather, a World War II veteran. After boot camp and rating school, she served aboard several surface combatant ships in the Western Pacific. She was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, on September 11, 2001, and vowed to make the U.S. Navy her career. She joined the Special Warfare Community after extensive training, and deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 as a cryptologic analyst with SEAL Team 3. After marrying Patrick, her orders sent her, unaccompanied, to remote outposts in the Philippine Islands. Her husband went to Afghanistan a few weeks after she returned, and went down with the helicopter several months later. Mrs. Feeks subsequently relocated to the East Coast and now lives in Tampa with her dog, Arrow, and two cats. She is scheduled to retire in 2019, and plans to finish her degree and then work with the veteran and Gold Star communities.

The luncheon on the 23rd will also feature a raffle for a variety of merchandise from local merchants, as well as door prizes. Music will be provided by The Rose Quartet led by Band Director Tyler Odom from Fernandina Beach High School.

All of the proceeds from the luncheon will go to the Navy SEAL Foundation. This 501(c)3 organization was created in 2000 with the mission of providing sustained support for our Naval Special Warfare community, as well as their families. It focuses on comprehensive programs that will insure the Naval Special Warfare community receives a broad spectrum of support in times of need.

You can still register for the luncheon online at aicgnsf.org or mail a $30 donation payable to Navy SEAL Foundation, P.O. Box 15698, Fernandina Beach, Florida 32035.
