council-on-aging1Make plans now for the Nassau County Council on Aging’s 2016 Gala on Friday, October 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Cumberland Ballroom. This year’s theme is “One Night in Casablanca.” Guests will be transported back to Rick’s Cafe Americain in Casablanca where they might think they catch a glimpse of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman out of the corner of their eye. The ambience of the evening will be enhanced by the Moroccan-inspired cuisine, dancing to 1940s-era Big Band music provided by Rick Davis Live – a hit at last year’s Gala — and a chance to win exciting gifts and prizes at the two roulette tables.

A highlight of the evening will undoubtedly be the live and silent auctions. This year, guests have a veritable bazaar of items to choose from: A tour for eight at White Oak Plantation, a handmade quilt donated by the Amelia Island Quilt Guild, exquisite jewelry from Robinsons Jewelers, spa and massage packages, a two-night stay at Omni Amelia Island Plantation, golfing packages at premier Amelia Island golf courses, carefully selected wine from the cellars of a long-time NCCOA supporter, gift certificates for local dining and theater, and so much more. In addition, a few unique, highly prized selections will be featured in the live auction.

All proceeds of the Gala benefit NCCOA senior services, including two Senior Life Centers, Meals on Wheels, Adult Day HealthCare for those with dementia, Home Health Services for the ill and homebound and NassauTRANSIT.

Sponsors have begun snapping up tables, but sponsorships are still available at levels ranging from the $500 Peter Lorre to the $10,000 Humphrey Bogart. Individual seats are also still available at $100 per person. For more information about purchasing a sponsorship or tickets call 904.261.0701. Tickets can also be purchased online at .
