Townies Pizzeria donated $1,000 to Fernandina Beach High School’s Pirate Mentoring program, which helps students in need get into college with college and career readiness mentoring. The funds from Townie’s donation will pay for college application fees, SAT and ACT testing fees and other mentoring activities.
“You never get a call offering to make a donation. We are always having to ask for financial support,” said Dr. Spencer G. Lodree, principal at FBHS. “It’s encouraging to have someone just call and ask, ‘what can we do to help.'”
Earlier this year, Townies established a relationship with Fernandina Beach High School Athletic Department as a sponsor for the football team by donating more than $1,500 to the “Spirit Pak.” Townies manager Robby Ward also gave several pep talks throughout the Pirates football season.
“Contributing to those in need is something we value the most,” said Matt Klabacka, owner of Townies Pizzeria. “Helping students and young adults move forward in the process of going to college means that they can continue to achieve their goals and ensure a brighter future for themselves and this community.”
Townies Pizzeria is dedicated to supporting the arts, education, sports, environmental programs military veterans and first responders through community giving in financial support as well as in kind donations. Townies Pizzeria is celebrating its most successful year in business since its founding.
