FOL Come Grow with usThanks to amazing generosity over the last several years, FOL has raised $1,018,000 of the $1.2 million it promised to match City and County contributions to upgrade and expand our library! The ‘new’ Library is open and busier than ever, even though there are still open spaces where chairs, shelves, desks, technology, books and work tables are needed. Just $182k is needed to achieve the ultimate goal of a well-equipped library that meets the needs of our community today and well into the future.

It takes a community… As we near the end of our campaign, there is still much going on and much to do. FOL has been working together with:

• Library staff to select and order attractive, durable new furnishings, many of which should begin arriving soon
• Nassau County Master Gardeners to plan an honorary “Author’s Garden” along portions of the library’s south and east walls
• A committee of artists and decorators to decide how best to use artwork to enhance the library
• Local performers and writers who will be part of our 2nd Annual Storytelling Slam fundraiser on September 25
• Tons of volunteers who make our semi-annual book sales a huge success for book lovers and library users
• Amelia Island B&B owners who chose to support FOL during their annual Fall Cookie Tour, December 12
• Local chefs who will create mouthwatering dishes for “Food For Thought,” the final campaign gala on February 4 at the library to celebrate all the wonderful people and organizations that have made this ‘new’ library possible. More information to come.
