You know, I would think, when the future of Nassau County’s financial future is being constructed, all parties elected to responsible positions should sit down together and hammer it out. Mr. Crawford has attend just one County Commission meeting in 8 months? He is the County Comptroller right? Any budget talks should involve him. I don’t know when this pissin’ contest started, but it must stop. Both sides need to start being adults. This isn’t middle school. all your decisions have a real impact on people who live in Nassau County.

Pat Edwards has deftly phrased a masterpiece in an effort to smoke Crawford out of his bunker of shame dating from this debacle: http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2013-12-19/story/chief-judge-commission-discouraged-clerk-court-100000-legal-fees

Good call, Pat Edwards.

Mrs. Hunter,

Thank you for sharing the 2013 article involving the frivolous lawsuit filed by Mr. Crawford. In an effort to prove that he was “right” regarding a court-ordered fee, he spent about $ 100,000 of citizens’ money only to learn that he was wrong and was reprimanded by a well respected judge for being unwise. He doesn’t seem to be as careful managing Nassau County’s money (our money) as he portrays himself. It’s a disgrace to his office that Mr. Crawford doesn’t even attend NCBOCC meetings.

That Crawford doesn’t attend NCBOCC meetings is not only a disgrace but, according to the Clerk’s own website, his absence is a breach of statutory duty.

“As Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, [the Clerk shall] attend meetings of the Board of County Commissioners and committees of the board.”

No one should be surprised by our all having to pay higher taxes because of incompetence in the ranks of Nassau County government. I was on the verge of spending $2M to build a facility for tourists visiting Florida in their motorhomes but this will not happen because Nassau County’s Planning Department Director is not willing to spend 15 minutes to learn the difference between a high end facility for the overnight parking of motorhomes and a travel trailer park. The result will cost Nassau County hundreds of thousands of dollars in uncollected sales tax receipts as these tourists go elsewhere in Florida. Any future investments I make in real estate will go to Camden or Flagler. The incompetence of Nassau County’s current administrative staff is biblical in its proportions. I have been working and developing projects in Nassau County for more than forty years and I know what I see.
